Frequently Asked Questions

At UCVAV, we believe it is important for our customers to be able to access information easily at every stage. On this page, we have tried to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about our products, the ordering process, payment methods and delivery. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, please contact us via our customer service team.

BASIC INFORMATION

Fine Art printing, also known as giclée printing, is a type of print favoured by photographers, illustrators and artists. Fine Art printing aims to achieve maximum longevity, quality and true-to-life colours. It delivers museum-quality results through the use of large-format inkjet reproduction machines, archival-quality inks and acid-free paper.

Fine Art printing is produced using state-of-the-art reproduction machines that offer a much wider colour gamut than standard printers. These machines utilise an 8–12-colour pigment system capable of producing millions of different colours. Consequently, Fine Art printing offers far more accurate colours than standard printing and remains faithful to the original image.

For more detailed information, please read our article entitled ‘What is Fine Art Printing?’.
Yes, we offer a printing service. At ÜÇVAV, fine art printing is our area of expertise. We bring your works to life with a wide range of paper options.

For more detailed information about our fine art printing service, please visit the ‘Fine Art Baskı’ page.
‘Archival’ means that the prints are long-lasting and will not deteriorate within our lifetime. Most of our papers have been tested to last 100 years when properly framed, and up to 400 years under museum storage conditions, with no visible fading or loss of quality. Whether on paper or canvas, all our prints are of archival quality. All the materials we use are of the highest archival standard. This applies to the paper, canvas, packaging materials and, most importantly, the inks.

ABOUT THE SHOP

When you access the product page, the paper with the lowest price and the smallest size are selected by default. Furthermore, the artist’s royalty fee is automatically included in the price. First, you need to decide which paper to choose. For detailed information on paper selection, hover over the paper option and click the information button that appears to access the description page. You can review the information about the paper and the sample image before selecting your preferred option. In the next step, you need to decide on the size of the artwork. You can choose the size that best suits you or the space where you intend to display the artwork from the options we provide. For canvas prints, a 5cm border is automatically added as a stretching allowance. If you wish, you can customise the border size. You can also add a border to your standard paper selection. You can place an order for your chosen artwork by clicking ‘Add to basket’. Pricing is calculated based on the details you have selected.
When determining the size options for works on our website, we establish a range of dimensions within which the image will not be distorted during printing. Once we have determined the maximum and minimum print sizes, we offer size options within this range. You can also contact us to request your preferred dimensions, provided they do not exceed the maximum and minimum print sizes.
On the product page, in the ‘Paper Selection’ section, you can click the ‘Info’ button next to the paper options to go to the paper details page. There, you can view the detailed image of the paper and find out more about it.

PRINTING WORKSHOP

We produce the highest-quality prints on fine art papers and canvases. We offer a range of paper options to bring your work to life in the best possible way.
No, we do not print on metal surfaces. Dye sublimation is a method that uses solvent-based inks, which produce fumes that could contaminate our archival prints and backing materials. For this reason, we are currently unable to offer this type of service.

In the Fine Art category, papers vary in weight and have different finishes, such as matt, glossy, textured, smooth and lightly textured. For the artwork you are purchasing, you may prefer vibrant colours on smooth paper, or you may opt for textured paper to add a third dimension to the piece.

To gain a detailed understanding of paper selection and choose the right paper for your needs, you can read our article
‘How to Choose the Right Paper for Your Fine Art Prints’.

You are welcome to visit our office to view the range of paper options we offer. You can experience the texture, structure and quality of the papers for yourself and request a print on the paper you like best.

SCANNING SERVICE

For various reasons, we do not scan framed artworks. Therefore, if you wish to have a framed artwork scanned, it will need to be removed from its frame prior to the scanning process. We require that artworks to be scanned are sent to us with the frames already removed. We do not accept responsibility for removing the artwork from its frame. If the artwork or frame is particularly old and/or valuable, we recommend taking it to an experienced framer for removal. For canvases without glass or frames, there is no need to remove the artwork from the stretcher. Provided the surface of the artwork is flush with the frame, we can carry out the scanning process without any issues.
