Aydın Kızılyar

He was born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1981.

In 1998, he began taking lessons in Kirkuk in the Riqa, Naskh, and Thuluth scripts from Eyüp Halil. During that period, he came under the influence of Ottoman calligraphers. With his master's permission, he came to Istanbul in 2004, where he began studying the Naskh script under Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay and the Thuluth script under Calligrapher Osman Özçay. At the same time, he learned paper sizing (ahar), murakka (calligraphy cardboard) making, prepress techniques, and color separation methods from his master Mehmed Özçay.

During Ramadan in 2010, he participated in the International Mushaf Gathering organized in Dubai by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Community Development of the United Arab Emirates. As part of this event, he transcribed the 29th part (juz) of the Holy Quran in Naskh script, and in 2011, during the same event, he transcribed the 17th part.

In 2014, he received his license (icazet) in the NASKH script from his master, Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay.

He actively continues his calligraphy work.
