In 1998, he began taking lessons from Eyüp Halil in Kirkuk in the styles of Rik’a, Naskh, and Thuluth. During that period, he was influenced by Ottoman calligraphers. With his teacher’s permission, he moved to Istanbul in 2004, where he began studying the Naskh script under Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay and the Thuluth script under Calligrapher Osman Özçay. At the same time, he learned techniques for paper sizing, album making, print preparation, and color separation from his teacher, Mehmed Özçay.
