Hakan Arslan
He was born in Afşin, Kahramanmaraş, in 1985. He completed his primary and middle school education in Hüyüklü village. After graduating from Afşin Imam Hatip High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from the Sakarya University Faculty of Theology. Subsequently, he began his master's degree in Islamic calligraphy at the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Waqf University (FSMVU) Faculty of Fine Arts. He took his first calligraphy lessons (meşk) in 2003 from Calligrapher Ahmet Arpacı.
In 2009, he met Master Davud Bektaş at the Süleymaniye Library and studied Thuluth-Naskh under him—initially via email for three years, and later by attending his classes in person—as well as Riqa script for a short period. He received his license (icazet) in 2018. He continues to benefit from his master's guidance. He has been awarded numerous prizes in international calligraphy competitions, including those organized by IRCICA and Albaraka, six of which were first-place awards. He has participated in various domestic and international exhibitions. Taking part in the International Quran Writing Ramadan Gathering held in Dubai, he transcribed three parts (juz) of the Quran in various calligraphic scripts.
His works are included in many public and private collections. He actively continues to produce artworks, primarily in the Thuluth and Naskh scripts, and train students.
