Intention can be defined as a decision or purpose formed in the mind regarding something. The context behind Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) statement in this noble Hadith stems from the migration (Hijrah) from Mecca to Medina, when one of the companions migrated to Medina with the intention of marrying a woman residing there. Upon this, the Prophet (pbuh) stated: "Actions are judged by intentions. Every person will be rewarded according to what he intended. So, whoever migrated for Allah and His Messenger, his migration is for Allah and His Messenger. And whoever migrated for worldly gain or to marry a woman, his migration is for that for which he migrated."
In essence, the Hadith featured in this magnificent work of art emphasizes that whatever we do in this worldly life, we must do for the sake of Allah. Otherwise, even deeds explicitly commanded by Allah that promise reward can be rendered worthless by an impure intention. Conversely, ordinary human actions—such as eating, drinking, traveling, or resting—can transform into worship and gain value in the sight of Allah through a pure intention.
Penned repeatedly by many calligraphers over time, this Hadith was prepared in 2017 by Calligrapher Osman Özçay in the Jali Thuluth script style. This magnificent artwork is crafted as zerendûd (gold leaf calligraphy) on a black background. The Intention Hadith calligraphic frame is produced in fine art print quality at our workshop and presented to art lovers.
